Whaling Japan

Japan has always had this attitude towards whaling. There’s no *need* to whale because demand is so low. The stocks of whale meat far outstrip the demand. Yet, Japan insists that it be allowed to resume commercial whaling.

They’ve given aid to poor, third-world countries and in return those countries have joined the IWC and tipped the balance of power towards the pro-whaling countries. This amounts to nothing more than bribes. Japan carries out “scientific whaling” which is simply commercial whaling in a very poor disguise.

This is a cultural problem. Japan seems to think it has the right to drive whales to extinction. I seriously can’t understand their preoccupation with whaling.
