In Response to the Question: “Why Do Japanese Girls Walk like Retards?”
Someone the other day came to this blog looking for the term “why japanese girls walk like retards”. This statement is so juicy that I had to give it its very own post.
To be politically correct, let’s just admit right now that it is wrong to make fun of mentally challenged people, and that they are no less important than any other person. I do agree that some Japanese girls walk silly or stupid, but those terms should not be associated with someone who is mentally challenged.
Ok now, back to those girls. Yes, I did notice when I came to Japan that some girls walk very odd. I find it kind of funny when girls think they’re looking their best when actually they look like a goof. Japanese girls are no exception.

Japanese girls trying really hard to look cool.
So what’s the deal? What’s the problem? Maybe the boots. And the high heels. Those boot things are really popular in Japan, it seems like almost every trendy girl is in to those. High heels though, I’ve seen less but they’re still worn. In Korea, it’s a different story. Girls there wear high heels at all times and for all occasions, but most of them don’t walk funny, so our question is still not resolved.

Beware Japanese girls, take two of these and walk silly in the morning.
Japanese girls are smaller than Korean girls, and on average Japanese girls are more overweight than Korean. Hence this is where the problem lies. I think the combination of short legs/thick legs/crazy boots or high heels leads to some Japanese girls walking funny. The average Japanese girl is small and these days has thick legs (thanks to McDonalds and almost everything being fried), so all you have to do is throw in the addition of high heels or boots and BAM! Japanese girls walk silly.

Wow! What a totally insulting commentary. You used the pretext of answering a question as a means to insult Japanese. And you didn’t even bother to answer the question.
Having lived in Japan and been to Korea, I can say that your conclusions are ridiculous. There is no truth to the idea that Japanese on average are more over weight than Korean women. Body sizes vary all over, and I saw fat omen in Korea as well. If Japanese women have fatter legs than Korean women, it is more likely that it is because in Japan women are more likely to be wearing short skirts all year round than Korean women. The body will add a layer of fat as a means of protection against the cold.
And to say that they are fat because of McDonalds is also crazy, since there are plenty of McDonalds restaurants in Korea, and also more more American restaurant chains in general than can be found in japan. Add to this the fact that at Korean restaurants the portion sizes you receive are about 2 and a half times bigger than at any Japanese restaurant…I think the obvious conclusion would be that Korea women are fatter than Japanese women.
Now to answer the walking funny question. It has nothing to do with the shoes. Japanese women wear high heels just as much as Korean women..ie all the friggin time. I have seen children in high heels. The fact of the matter is that Asians in general, and I think perhaps the Japanese even more so, are more prone than other groups to having pigeon toes and/or clubbed feet. Because it is so prevalent in this country, doctors don’t bother to correct for it in childhood, unlike they do in North America or Europe, where it is much less common.
Next time pull your racist head out of your ass and do some research.

“Next time pull your racist head out of your ass and do some research.”
I did do some research. I lived in Korea for one year and only saw a handful of overweight girls. Tonight in Japan at a very small train station I counted 3.

Err… I don’t think this walking funny problem is limited to Japanese girls. I’ve seen other Asian girls walking this way and by the way, they were SLIM. So I highly doubt it has to do with 1. nationality or 2. being overweight. I think some girls walk funny because they think it looks sexy. But what I have also noticed that some have really short legs. Their hips aren’t that much higher than where my knees are, so this might also cause them to walk funny. As a matter of fact, just this morning, I saw this one Asian girl walking sort “ass shake”-ish and then this white guy and girl who were walking in the opposite direction started laughing after they passed her and the guy tried to imitate her walk. I think it’s cruel, especially if people who walk this way are predisposed to it and can’t help themselves.

Im well traveled. I Live in Canada. Ive been to Japan. The answer, as with everything, can be found mathematically. For simplicities sake, im going to compare Canada and Japan – although i could use any 2 countries as long as there are women wearing heels. First it must be understood that some women, no matter their race, can’t walk in heels. Here in Canada, it is way less common to see a girl in heels, be it boots or whatever. Most women won’t wear them on a day to day basis. In fact, i know many women who i have never seen wear heels. Yet, i have seen Canadian women wearing heels walk funny. In Japan, far more women wear heels, far more often. So of course, i have seen far more Japanese women walk funny. You seen its all about ratios.
On a seperate note, the japanese girls that walk funny without heels, with the messed up knees…(of course they aint doing any better in heels)… well i always assumed that their family genetics were fucked from the 2 fucking nukes those amerifags needlessly dropped on em.
Alright im finished.

The “walk” of Japanese females is as culturally learned as any other aspect of their lives–it has absolutely nothing to do with body size, proportion or shoes.
Quite simply, females in Japan are trained (subtly but surely) to be passive and “cute,” to look weak and helpless–in need of male aid. Japanese men, in the majority (certainly not all), are attracted to women they can dominate and control, not ones who are strong, aggressive, talk back–or walk away.
What’s normal, natural and/or sexy for Europeans and North Americans–an assertive, confident walk–is not necessarily so elsewhere. Rather, what’s attractive/sexy in Japan is a shuffling gait, with tiny, tight steps–a sort of “I couldn’t run away even if I wanted too, you bad man with dirty thoughts…” Some say this comes from kimono culture, only a century removed now, but it fits in with “kawaii”/powerless complex that dominates the feminine ideal in Japan.
Look closely at that young Japanese girls’ limping walk–every movement is a denial of their own agency. They seem to be moving begrudgingly, almost against their own will, as though bound. Their walk screams “I have nowhere important to go, nothing important to do: take me somewhere, entertain me.”
But we shouldn’t general/nationalize this walk too much. It is a common, contemporary trait, but not ubiquitous. I know plenty of Japanese women who don’t care about looking helpless, who move forward assertively in bold strides. And consider too that 200 years ago, the sexiest walk of all was the elaborate “figure eight” steps of the courtesan in high geta, an elaborate strut that expressed power through willful slowness.

“Amerifags needlessly dropped on em”? You mean the people that saved the world from an aggresively expansionist, tiranical, emperor worshiping Japan? Those are the fags you are talking about? It must be nice to be Canadian and have the US next door. It is easy to be judgmental about decisions during wartime when you have the power of the US military to protect you without having to make any difficult decisions yourself. You are an ignorant fool. If you even had a basic education regarding the events of WWII you would understand that there was nothing “needless” about the atomic attack on Japan. It saved far more lives that it took. You moronic tool.

Ok, ok. Ive lived in Japan for over two years now. I am a Member of the U.S. Armed forces even. As for Japanese Women, and girls walking funny, I would have to say from what I have seen first hand, the explaination isnt a clear cut one in the least. I have asked many people, and what I have come up with is this: Some do it because they are pigeon toed (Or what ever you want to call it.), others do it to look powerless, and then some do it because its the way they learned to shake their asses when they walk. And Im pretty sure that wearing heels all the time doesnt help that much either. Now as for comments 5 and 7…what was done was done, Ive been to the Peace Park in Hiroshima, and plan on taking a trip to the one in Nagasaki as soon as I get the chance to. It was a horrible thing to do, but when you look at the alternative (Sending thousands of American troops to invade Japan) would have cost heavily in American lives, and would have completely destroyed (in my opinion) the culture of this beautiful country, not to mention the natural beauty of the landscape found here. It was a hard descion, one that the President of the time had to live with, as well as the morale blowback from it. In War, you want to save the lives of as many of your own country men as you can, not so much the lives of your enemy. Now, to probably ruin my point, the Japanese have created some of absolute beauty out of something so damn horrible.
