Furoshiki Wrapping
For those of you that don’t know what it is, a furoshiki is a piece of cloth or material used in ancient Japan used to wrap small items in for easy transport.
Lately the furoshiki has been making a comeback in Japan. People are beginning to realize the conveniences of the furoshiki and how it helps the environment by eliminating the need for plastic bags. It’s great to see the people of Japan to step up themselves and starting to use this eco-friendly cloth.
Furoshikis come in all different shapes and sizes. Amazingly, some furoshikis are actually so well made that the cloth can actually hold water in it’s wrapping. There are many ways you can fold a furoshiki, and I have included a diagram that displays the basic ones.
If you want a beautiful piece of material that not only goes great as a decoration but doubles as a useful cloth, snag a furoshiki.
