Japanese Calligraphy art love Kanji symbol

This is the kanji for “Ai” meaning love. Looks great for hanging on the wall or as a decoration on a desk.

The love kanji is one of the most common words in the Japanese language. Know it!

Resume, resume, ooh-la-la

Yesterday I spent the whole time at Julie’s. But, the biggest thing about yesterday is that I finally was able to carve out a resume for myself to apply for the rad administration internship. I absolutely hate writing resumes and so I feel really relieved now that it’s over. Now that I’ve looked over it it’s pretty damn bare. Not much to say about myself except that I have good grades and not much else. I’m hoping that no one else will apply for the job so I’ll be the only one and so my application would look way better than no application.

I had ate dinner already before Julie came back yesterday but she was hungry and made herself this dish with rice and a fried egg and a little bit of soy sauce and sesame oil. She let me try some and man it was surprisingly really really good. Well after about eating half of hers I felt guilty and I said let’s make some more and she was alright with that. So while we waited for the rice to cook we played a game of Skip-bee.

Beat diamond yesterday and got on a ship that took me to Kanto which I was really surprised, it’s kind of like two games in one. I didn’t see that coming at all.

Nate has on his facebook status that he is confused and upset. I would have to guess it’s the case that he didn’t get the JASSO. I told him in a bad way because I said to him “You didn’t get the JASSO” in like sort of a statement rather than a question and expected him to talk about it a little more because I figured he already knew. But he took it as if I was asking a question and then I had to repeat it like no, you didn’t. After I told him I could tell he was still in a little bit of denial because he explained how one person got it way later and didn’t know they got it but I think soon after he realized that that probably wasn’t the case. I guess he was really expecting to get it. I guess I would have been upset too if I didn’t get it last year because I was expecting to get it too, so I would have been feeling the same way as him. So I guess that means he probably won’t have as much fun in Japan as he would have if he had gotten it, because let’s face it you need money in Japan to have fun, that includes buying food, alcohol, transportation, admission to shows and theme parks, you name it you gotta have money. I know Nate is gonna be at the bar there all the time so that costs a lot of money after a while. Not as much as an American bar, but still.. The cheapest beer they got is Nama beer that goes for roughly $2 a glass, but it’s good beer and higher alcohol content. I’m just saying that I’m afraid he’ll be worrying about money all the time because he worries about money all the time right now in America and Japan is definitely a hell of a lot more expensive…

Big surprise today

I got a big surprise today, so big that it’s the only reason I decided to write this post in the first place. I have some free time today to get some stuff done and as I was looking for shorts that needed cleaning for the summer and I picked up the route 66 vanilla shorts with the blue stripes on them off the floor and checked the pockets. Felt a nickel, pulled it out expecting it to be a nickel and to my surprise it was a Japanese 100 yen coin from my return from Japan. Had I not worn these shorts for that long? Must haven’t since its been awhile since its been this hot. Yup it started to make me think about the voyage home and deciding to leave Japan and actually doing it, like having to convert all my money back to American and having like a dollar or so left I couldn’t convert back, hence why I presume it was still in my pocket. So those were the shorts I wore back? I think I was wearing week old jeans? Hmm maybe it was another day while I was there, most likely… I really don’t like those shorts anymore, I would only wear them if I had to. Well now that I think of it I can remember pillaging through my suitcase, a couple times completely covering taka’s living room floor with wrinkly clothes, trying to find new clothes to wear since it was so hot in taka’s apartment that all the clothes I would wear would get sweaty real easily and I was running out of choices besides to wash them, and I didn’t know how to use the little washing machine since taka was gone all day and couldn’t show me so I remember I was desperate for clothes and so I must have wore them to a quick trip to the next door conbini or something to grab a curry packet or some gogo tea.

Sean R showed me his tsukuba packet today. He got the JASSO, even though his picture looked really scary like. Well I would have to say I was hoping Nate would get the JASSO rather than Sean but I mean if they judge by income and need then let Sean have it if Nate can afford it. That’s the thing Nate claims he doesn’t have a lot of money and his friends say that he does and that his dad owns his own business selling hearing aides or something like that and Nate says he barely makes enough money to stay in business or something like that but I don’t know… rich people never admit they have money so.. Like I said if Nate can afford it I don’t care he didn’t get it but if he can I’m happy Sean got it.

Its been fun staying at Julie’s place and fun cooking food with her and hanging out. Yesterday we went to Target and bought Skip-Bee because I played it at Nate’s house the night before and it was really fun. Then we went to buy dumpling and made them but they didn’t turn out too good but I mean it’s hard to make dumpling taste bad so they were alright. It’s just too bad she’s really busy with classes and her job. I applied for two library positions pushing books and the lady for the one said that the hiring guy is on vacation, so that’s just my luck. There is also a radiology internship I need to get my butt moving on but I’ve been putting it off because I need to write a resume for it and I hate doing that because I hate writing statement bullshit.
